Indigenous Australians - Teacher Notes
Australia's Aboriginal culture, the oldest culture in the world, is grounded in a strong connection to the land. There are many resources available (printed and online) to support the development of an appreciation of the deep spiritual connection to Country and Place that continues to guide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
In this video, Bob Randall explains his connection to Land and introduces the "kanyini" principle. Kanyini is a principle of unconditional love and includes connection to Country.
Kanyini is unconditional love based on four principles:
- Ngura - A sense of belonging to home and land.
- Walytja - Family connecting with life.
- Kurunpa - Love, spirit or soul.
- Tjuukurpa - The belief about creation and the right way to live.
